Art Challenge Project #16: Beyond

Hello again for another installment of the Art Challenge Projects.

This week I wanted to return to another space scene for our project setting. Rather than an intense moment like our last space scene, Crashing Meteor, this time we went for a dramatic, yet calm vista of stars and nebulas. Photos and artwork of nebulas have been fascinating to me because of the colors and shapes they create, being so unique and expansive. Of course, we would have difficulty putting color to these space gases in reality but that is where imagination and art enter in, sometimes with a bit of photo science.

For the music, my challenge over the last few weeks and months has been two-fold: trying to remain focused and creative due to life circumstances and writing with simplicity while maintaining interest. This week was no different. I pulled out my guitar, which has been untouched for a month and a half, for this track to feel out a melody to go over an evolving synth bed. And as I was writing, I was reminded of some ambient, electronica music that I enjoy and decided to add a section with a drum machine groove to provide some interest (and to work on some audio techniques). I enjoy writing in this ambient/electronic genre yet consistently face the challenge of simplicity vs complexity. Hopefully the balance here is a pleasant experience to go along with Sara's drawing.
